Frequently Asked Questions

We're here to help! Check out our FAQ's and feel free to contact us with any further questions.

How long does it take to pack and ship my order?

After you place your order, we will pack and ship it within 1-2 days. Exceptions include weekends and holidays when delivery carriers like USPS and UPS are closed. If they are not processing shipments on the day and time you order, then your order will go out after shipping resumes.

The item I want says it's on backorder. How long will it be until it's available?

Most backordered items will be back in stock within 1-3 weeks depending on the item. If your item will be longer, we will contact you to let you know the estimated timeline. If you need an item by a certain date and it's on backorder, feel free to email us at info@windandthrottle.com to find out when it will be available and if we can get it to you in time. Don't forget to include the style, size and color in your email.

What is the difference between "Available on Backorder, Add to Cart" versus "Out of Stock"?

When choosing a size of the style you want, the button will either say "Add to Cart" which means it's in stock and will ship immediately; "Available on Backorder, Add to Cart" which means it's not currently in stock but will be soon and will ship to you as soon as it is restocked at our office; or "Out of Stock" which means we're not sure when it will be back in stock, but you can sign up for an alert when it is restocked if you'd like to know when it's back.

What is your return policy?

1. Please request your return within 21 days from the date your order was delivered. You can request to receive an exchange, refund or store credit, which can all be done through the Exchanges & Returns page. Merchandise must be in brand new condition, the tags still attached, cannot have any signs of wear or pet hair.

2. Once you have selected an exchange, refund or store credit, you will receive instructions on how to return the item(s). You can purchase your return shipping label during this process, which utilizes our carrier discounts. You can also opt for Printerless Returns where you will receive a QR code to show to the carrier instead of printing a label.

3. Pack item(s) carefully in a bag, then put in a box to protect your return during shipping, and write your order number on the box. You are welcome to keep any free goodies that we included - those do not have to be returned. Take your return to the carrier within 10 days. We recommend getting a receipt when you drop it off so you can track your return.

4. Once your return is received, inspected and approved, a refund will be issued, the exchange will be shipped out or your store credit will be issued; whichever applies to your order. Returns are processed within 5 business days after we receive them.

Some helpful details: Exchanges ship free. We don't charge restocking fees. Shipping charges from the original order cannot be refunded. Worn or damaged items will not be refunded and any unauthorized returns will be refused. We do not accept COD packages. If you paid duties to your home country's customs office, you can contact them to request a refund.

Is the sizing of your gear consistent across all styles?

Each piece of gear will fit differently based on the cut and material, so it's important to check the size chart for each item. If you use the interactive size chart, you will only have to enter your measurements once, then they should populate in each size chart after that so you can easily view our size recommendation for each piece of gear.

What if I don't have a tape measure to get accurate measurements?

We can provide you with a complimentary tape measure, just send us an email at info@windandthrottle.com with your name and shipping address and we'll send one out!

I found a size chart on a different website and it’s different from Wind & Throttle’s. Which one should I use?

We recommend that you refer to our size charts as they have been carefully reviewed and would only vary from the manufacturer’s size chart if we found through customer experience that it needed updating. Size charts could also vary if a manufacturer lists their sizes in ones other than U.S. sizing and we convert them to U.S. sizing.

Is the gear true to size?

Not all of our gear is true to size. Check the size chart for each item and also reference the "Fit Tips" section to find out how the gear will fit. We provide tips on if it's true to size, runs small, how it stretches, and other useful tips that will help you make the most informed decision on size.

Do you carry petite and tall lengths?

A lot of our gear is available in multiple lengths, and will be indicated on the product page for each piece of gear. Some styles also run shorter or longer depending on the cut, which is usually noted in the Technical Features section of the product page. There are also styles that come in a longer length because they can be hemmed or rolled to your perfect length.

Do you have reviews for your products?

We've just launched reviews for our products, so some products will have reviews now and others will be added as they come in. Also, we have taken customer/rider feedback over the years and included that fit information in our Fit Tips guide on each product's size chart. So even if a product doesn't have reviews just yet, there is still plenty of fit info to help you get the perfect fit.

What is the difference between the types of armor?

The main difference that affects performance is what the armor is rated. Level 1 armor is rated for lower speeds, like city riding. Level 2 armor is rated for faster speeds, like highway riding. There are many different brands who make armor, and they vary in shape and size. Most of our gear comes with armor that fits it, but that armor could also fit other styles, and all armor is removable. Most of our armor is super flexible and comfortable, though they do range in feel based on the manufacturer, though the feel of the armor doesn’t indicate its protection level.

What is the difference in protective fibers?

Kevlar and Dyneema are the most common abrasion resistant materials used in our gear. Kevlar is an aramid fiber either put in as a layer in the pant, or woven in to the pant itself. The gear we have made of Dyneema is a single layer of protection and feels like regular denim.

Do you have a physical shop I can visit to see the gear in person?

At the moment we sell online only, but stay tuned for any upcoming announcements on events and pop up shops where you can check out our gear in person!

Do you have a phone number I can call for assistance?

We are a small business with a small staff and currently are unable to provide a coverage of a dedicated phone line. However, please feel to email us and we will respond as quickly as possible!

Do you ship internationally?

We ship worldwide and offer multiple shipping options that you can choose from at checkout. If your order includes any backordered items, please note that your entire order will ship together once the backordered item comes in.

Will I have to pay duty fees if I am ordering from outside the U.S.?

We ship from the United States, and some countries will assess a tax on items that are imported from a different country. To find out if your country does, you can visit your government's website to determine what those fees might be. Any duty fees are the responsibility of the recipient of the shipment. If they are not paid, the package is often considered abandoned by your country's customs office or delivery service.  We are unable to retrieve packages that have been abandoned due to unpaid duty fees and cannot offer refunds on those goods. Please note that the fees are usually requested from the carrier, so if the post office, DHL or UPS requests additional amounts, it is for duty fees not for additional shipping charges.

Do shipping times calculated at checkout include how long it takes for the order to be processed and packed up?

The shipping times calculated by each carrier at checkout include the time it takes us to pack your order. For example, if you choose 2 day shipping, please allow 1-2 days for us to pack your order, then shipping will take 2 days from when the package is dropped off with your chosen carrier. Those dates should be reflected in the estimate you get when choosing a delivery service so you will have an accurate estimate of when you will receive your order. Please note that weekends do affect shipping times as carriers don’t always move packages on Saturdays or Sundays. Please also pay attention to any items that are on backorder. Backordered items can take weeks to get restocked, but once they are, they will ship using the service you selected at checkout.

Can you explain some of the safety ratings?

Check out our Safety Rating Guide for some of the common terms used for motorcycle gear.

How long does it take to get a response from an email to Wind & Throttle or through the Contact Us page on the website?

We try to respond to all emails within 24 hours, though sometimes it can be 2-3 days depending on how many emails we have and if it's a weekend or holiday. We respond to every email to make sure you get all the personalized info you need. If a couple days have passed and you haven't gotten a response from us, please check your Junk/Spam email folder.
